Hello, I am Tai, I am a mental health nurse by background but I am also a trained Cognitive Behavioural Therapist accredited through the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), as well as an independent prescriber. I also work as an Associate Lecturer on the children and young people's Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Programmes at Northumbria University.

I have experience working with adults, as well as children and young people (CYP). I currently work in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) within the National Health Service (NHS). I have experience using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to work on mental health difficulties, such as, but not limited to:

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Panic Disorder
  • Phobias
  • Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Separation Anxiety
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem

I also have significant experience working with children and young people who have comorbid neurodevelopmental difficulties such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In sessions, I significantly focus on recovery, helping people to ‘become their own therapist’ and overcome their difficulties independently following sessions coming to an end.

I am aware of the issues that COVID 19 has had on the majority of people, I am therefore open to new ways of working, such as video or telephone appointments where appropriate and possible.

Thank you for taking time to read my bio and I very much look forward to working with you in the future.

Appointments

I currently offer face to face appointments at Durham Therapy Centre on Monday and Tuesday evenings. I am happy to be flexible with video or telephone appointment dates and times. Cost is £95 per hour.
