I have worked as a chartered psychologist for over seventeen years, gaining experience in the assessment and treatment of individuals with a range of psychological disorders. In my work at the Durham Therapy Centre I have chosen to focus on working with people to overcome trauma, including childhood abuse, sexual/violent trauma, domestic abuse and work-based trauma. This could be single incidents of trauma (such as a road traffic accident) or multiple traumas.
My training and experience has allowed me to specialise in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and other problems associated with trauma, such as self-harm, substance misuse, emotional problems (including anxiety and anger) and unhelpful relationships.
I am trained in specific interventions, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Trauma, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Compassion Focused Therapy. I work with adults and adolescents, but have a particular interest in gender sensitive approaches with female clients.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (PYL05146). I am an Associate Fellow with the British Psychological Society (086969) and a full member of the Division of Forensic Psychology. I have an enhanced DBS (criminal record) certificate.

I offer appointments at Durham Therapy Centre on Wednesday mornings.

Coronavirus update – I am working remotely using video call eg WhatsApp, Skype, Face time or Zoom. I am not yet offering regular face to face appointments, but can do face to face consultations.
