I have over ten years of experience working in the field of therapy, personal development, substance misuse and rehabilitation. My training was in London at the eminent Psychosynthesis and Education Trust and I offer a specialist, robust and efficient approach to mental health and well being.
My core training is as a Transpersonal Counsellor and a Dual Diagnosis clinician. This has meant that I have dealt with complex and specialised case work as the main body of my career. I offer a very high level of support and skill to my clients, with a strong focus on results and a down to earth common sense attitude to wellbeing and personal health. As a therapist I do not unnecessarily focus on the past, but always use what is relevant and useful to the client. As humans we live in the present and we can benefit from learning how to do this more fully and with greater strength and ability to enjoy the lives we have. Therapy does not make problems go away, but helps us to enhance our ability to live more satisfactorily.
I have extensive professional experience as an addictions specialist and take a fresh and down to earth approach to this often challenging and misunderstood condition. I have a professional practice that brings me clients from all walks of life and all parts of the world. I worked for six years as a Dual Diagnosis Alcohol Counsellor in statutory services working around community building. I specialised in the complex interrelationship between alcohol dependency and mental health conditions. I then set up an alcohol counselling service and managed a team of Doctorate Counselling Psychology students.
I augmented this background with further training at Teesside University in Dual Diagnosis and Complex Substance Misuse. I also trained in specialist Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Treatment via Dr David Muss, pioneer of the ‘Rewind Technique’, with the Human Givens College and have undergone training in Transformative Hypnotherapy in London at Hypnotherapy Training International, with the very skilled and acknowledged Dr John Butler (Phd). Ten years ago I was featured on BBC 1 television due to my pioneering work in the field of addiction. I have also been featured in a number of newspapers and my work published by an Italian Doctor specialising in holistic medicine.
